October’s blog theme is Synthetic Turf Solutions for Common Residential Problems. Last month, we busted the myths which create obstacles in the way of prospective turf clients. This, however, is not enough to convince the homeowner to purchase our turf. We must uncover the common problems all homeowners face and seek to show how our products provide the solution with maximal return on investment. This week, we will focus on perhaps the most frequent problem homeowners face: a yard which refuses to stay alive. How can ForeverLawn help solve this issue?

First, let’s discuss the issue itself. The health of your lawn is dependent on many factors, including geography, climate, sunlight, shade, soil type, regular upkeep, and grass variety. In our territory (Jacksonville, Savannah, Hilton Head, Augusta), most soil types are sandy, and this means that essential nutrients such as nitrogen and potassium flow through the soil very quickly. This requires regular attention to maximize nutrient uptake while avoiding lawn-burn. Our area is also characterized by high temperatures and humidity during the growing season, which requires grass varieties such as centipede and Bermuda in full-sunlight areas and zoysia in partial-shade areas. In addition, most homeowners inherit a yard that is in bad health, thereby requiring more hard costs (cash) and soft costs (time, stress).

In Savannah, for instance, the average yearly costs of yard upkeep range from $875 to $5,000, with the lower end requiring more time and labor from the homeowner and the higher end using a third-party for the work. That may not seem like a large yearly cost, but when added up over 15+ years (the lifespan of our landscape turf!), you’re looking at spending anywhere from $14,000 to $45,000! When you add in the soft costs, its clear that lawn upkeep is a stressful and expensive endeavor.

I need to give one disclaimer at this point. Synthetic turf is not for everyone. Some homeowners love yard upkeep, and that is perfectly acceptable – we want them to keep that hobby. However, you may be a homeowner who dislikes, maybe despises, yard upkeep. If so, then ForeverLawn Low Country is here for you. Our LandscapeGrass varieties help in this scenario in several ways.

First, the hard cost will be the same as you would spend on yard upkeep over the lifespan of the turf. Because we offer financing, it essentially replaces the yard upkeep line in your budget. Second, there are almost no soft costs associated with our turf. It requires minimal upkeep, such as an occasional blower for leaves/debris. Third, the turf itself is aesthetically stunning, engineered to replicate several types of real grass. Fourth, the turf never dies or loses color, meaning no mud, no dirt, and no snarky comments from the neighbors.
